Melody I like: One song that I really like the melody of is Reel Around the Sun from Michael Flatley's Riverdance. I do Irish Dance and I got to see Riverdance last June, and the song has stuck with me ever since. It's one of those songs that makes you want to move, whether or not you know Irish step or not. It is the first song at the top of the show, and acts as a musical hook for the rest of the performance.

The addition of non-harmonic tones gave the chords variety and made the composition as a whole more interesting. It also made it sound less bad as a whole; I really did not like the way that it sounded before, and the non-harmonic tones made it sound better.

Harmony I like: I really enjoy listening to the harmonies of The Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations". The combination of the lead singer first singing by himself and then the others coming in under the melody is very pleasing to the ear, especially since they did it so well.

Mind-dump for nonharmonic tones:

Nonharmonic tones are notes that do not belong in a specific chord. There are many different types of nonharmonic tones.

Passing tones occur when the nonharmonic tone is approached by a step, and then continues by a step in the same direction, making a diagonal. A neighboring tone is when the nonharmonic tone is a approached by a step and then goes back down by a step, so the same notes are on either side. Some nonharmonic tones can be accented while others cannot, depending on their position in a measure. There are also suspensions and appoggiaturas, but I forget exactly which those ones do; the suspension I know is held longer than the other ones, but I forget the positioning of it that defines it as such. There are others that I do not remember at this moment in time.
